My Escape - by Cooper

My Escape - by Cooper

When I was 9 years old I had to leave my country. My name is Cooper. This is my story.

It was a dark and stormy night and there was a war going on. Our neighborhood got bombed and we all had to leave the town. We packed our stuff, I packed my clothes and my favorite rugby ball and we left. We walked for ages till we got to a refugee camp. We all felt scared and tired.

When we got there we saw soldiers with guns and behind them were big wire fences it looked scary. I thought where are we?

The soldiers took as in the wire gates. I saw lots of people, and I saw lots of kids running around. It was good to see other  kids. It made me feel happier. They took us to a tent, it looked small and dirty, it was raining then so we all ran in.

We all ate some food they gave us, then we fell asleep on the floor. Mum and Dad came up with an idea
that we move to a new country. We lived at the refugee camp for what felt like years.

Then some people came who said they were taking groups to New Zealand and would we like to live there?
refugees. We said yes!! We moved to a little house with other all felt safe again.
